Halloween 2026 Decor

Mid-July, someone asked me what I was planning to be for Halloween. My response? “I want to be (pause) in the moment. I want to enjoy Summer.” 

It seems like holidays are prematurely flooding stores earlier and earlier every year. I saw Halloween decorations next to 4th of July this year. Too soon! I am trying to enjoy the sun and the water. No time for crunchy leaves and crisp Autumn air in my agenda.

Alas, I am a sucker for Halloween decor. I admittedly have a few items on display year-round that I found during spooky season. And since I am being inundated with marketing emails and displays as soon as I walk into retailers, I decided to cave in and check out the goods. Here is a list of the best Halloween decor I have seen so far. 

Michaels

The Mischief Magic collection is my favorite new collection from Michaels in 2026. It is playful, candy colored, California coded, and unique. If you want to avoid the scary and still decorate for Halloween, this is for you. It is especially kid friendly. Casper would approve. Perhaps this helps transition from Summer to Halloween just a little?

My favorites are the giant disco candy corn and their friendly ghosts. Be still my heart. I predict these will sell out fast.

• Disco Candy Corn - 30” tall and glorious. Ironically listed as table top decor while being the same height of a dining room table. 

• Disco Ghosts in 30” and 36”

• This Navy & Gold Footed Snake Box is a year-round contender in my eyes. The pivoting puzzle lid adds to its charm.

Black decor is so timeless and classy. Picture it in a room that has black window frames or faucets.

Pro tips for Michaels: 

Some of the seasonal items say that they are “only sold in stores” but can still be purchased online for pick up or delivery. 

Shop smart. Michaels is consistent with sales and coupons so you almost never pay full price. Sign up for their free rewards program to get the coupons (email and text) and earn 3%, 6%, or 9% in rewards depending on your annual spending level. I got this espresso martini print for $1 after buying a few items for my small patio refresh this year.

West Elm

I’m going to break WE’s decor down into 3 categories; Classic, Comfy, and Cute. The classic are the timeless neutrals. Lots of black and white, which I love. The Comfy are items that lean into Fall colors. I adore the Angela Dean collection. The artist was inspired by vintage photographs. The Cute are brightly colored monsters and soft to the touch items sure to put a smile on your face.

At Home

With so much variety, At Home can be overwhelming and it takes time to pull a look together. So I focused on one style here - simple black, white, and orange. A little cutesy and modern.
